Tom Cruise in my Coffee Cup no more

Tom Cruise Image in Coffee Cup

Well….. it would seem that Tom Cruise has proposed to Katie Holmes and she accepted. I suppose I won’t be seeing his reflection in my morning cup of coffee any longer.

Coffee Announcements #4

Noticed someone came from a search engine looking for a “coffee cup blinkie” so I made a tiny one. You’ll find that on the coffee and tea blinkies page

I’ve added a page ‘link located on left sidebar’ which include ‘blog style’ buttons for coffee and tea related subject matter. Check them out!

For those of you I have listed on the right sidebar in a blogroll, I will be removing you and placing regular links to your sites/blogs. I’ve observed that the search engines tend not to pick the links up for some reason. How can that benefit you? It doesn’t. So, if you have a blogroll and find my link gone missing, it is here, just in a link format.

Dairy Queen’s “MooLatté ” plus a Moolatte Recipe

Recently I tried one of DQ’s MooLatté.

Dairy Queen and the Moolatte frozen coffee drink

What it is: A frozen coffee drink. MooLatté is made with creamy DQ soft serve, coffee, ice and crowned with whipped topping. They are available in: Mocha, Cappuccino, Caramel and French Vanilla. You can get these in a mega size as well. Called MEGA - MooLatté.

Now, I did like it. It is cool and refreshing and though it’s not *bux, it is acceptable in a pinch. I do have one gripe about it though. The name.

As some of you know, there is a word used (not so much these days) to describe a person whose parents are of different color. One white and one African American. It is called Mulatto. Nothing wrong with that in the least but you’d think Dairy Queen could have thought of something more creative and appropriate for a frozen coffee drink’s name. It is somewhat humorous yet at the same time showing a lack of imagination.

Mocha Moolatte is made with vanilla ice cream, cocoa fudge, coffee (concentrate) and then blended with topping (whipped cream) added on top… of course, for caramel, you add caramel. Note: Need a coffee concentrate? Try Nescafe’s concentrates. They have several from regular to flavored. Works very well! I doubt you’ll be able to tell much difference between your mixture and Dairy Queens.

Grog What is it? Follow with a Coffee Grog

Ever wonder what Grog is? In this entry, I’ll give you a couple of definitions and then I’ll place an entry in the recipe category. It tastes much better than the name sounds.

Basically, Grog is a mixture of Rum and Water but I’ll elaborate a bit further:

grog, originally a mixture of rum and water. It is named after Admiral Grogram Vernon, who first ordered the dilution of the British Royal Navy’s daily rum ration. The term is now applied to almost any unsweetened mixture of spirits and water, hot or cold, and it is sometimes used for any intoxicating drink: hence, groggy.

Grog: A hot drink made with rum, a sweetener such as sugar or honey and boiling water. It has long been considered a curative for colds but is generally consumed simply for its pleasure and warmth giving properties.

Prepreation:

Tear fruit peels into pieces. Divide pieces into cups. Blend butter, sugar, cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon in a small bowl. Mix coffee and cream together with the mixture of spices.
