Discovering the Ulitmate Body Fuel

This is a new one. Did you know that drinking a cup of coffee with a plate of carbs will help athletes recover from their training sessions faster? This is according to research published in the Adelaide Advertiser. They go on to state that combing food with caffeine dramatically boosts the body’s levels of glycogen, which is the main fuel source for muscles.

Of those who added caffeine to their post-exercise meal had 66 per cent more glycogen in their muscles than those who left the caffeine off.
Reasearch indicates that carbohydrates and caffeine improve a variety of athletic performances but this is the first study to show that the combination of the two used afterwards can rapidly help muscles refuel.

Bustelo Cool – A Smooth Coffee Drink Review

Bustelo Cool Coffee Review image Thanks to Aura for the case of Bustelo Cool which is not no more. That’s right, 24 cans all gone. In the belly and loving it. This review is not going to be a long one but will be concentrated with the ravings of a complete coffee lunatic. Ravings… that is all I can do when it comes to Bustelo Cool!

When I first set my eyes on the design of the Bustelo Cool aluminum container, it put me in mind of something from the 1950′s. But as retro as the can is, I had to like it. There is nothing “old school” about the contents and I find Bustelo Cool to be quite flavorful.

Bustelo is a Cuban style slow roasted bean that produces an excellent Cuban style espresso. Bustelo Cool is the cool refreshing version of that flavorful espresso. You can read all about how Bustelo was born on their website. Click on the hisotry link. Bustelo Cool Website

I have to admit the first time I opened the can I didn’t especially like the scent of the drink but once I tasted it, I really liked it. It is creamy and bold. A bit of a kick but nothing to make you jittery. Delicious straight from the can or over ice. The great thing I found about Bustelo Cool is the fact that it is actually refreshing. Normally, if I am thirsty, coffee is not going to do much to quench that thirst but this little drink did just that.

I recommend you try Bustelo Cool for yourself. You can find it at Bustelo Cool’s website in their estore, Java Cabana. Check it out and see what Bustelo has to offer. There are several coffees and drinks to select from and I know you will find something to suit your tastes.

Coffee and Breast Cancer

Old news well, not old but recent news indicates coffee and tea does not raise your chances in developing breast cancer. Good news for us female coffee fanatics. This news comes from a decades-long study (22 year follow-up) where they observed no association between coffee (caffeinated or decaffeinated) and tea consumption and the risk of breast cancer.

According to Ganmaa, of the Harvard School of Public Health in Boston, Massachusetts, coffee and tea are remarkably to drink (in moderation). This study was conducted among 85,987 women between the ages of 30 and 55 years of age.

More Good Reasons To Drink Coffee

I found even more Reasons to Drink Coffee! I thought I’d add them for you. See documentation at the end of entry.

1.Coffee is high in polyphenols — plant chemicals that are known to reduce inflammation. Polyphenols also have other positive effects on the heart, blood vessels and blood sugar
2.They help to relax blood vessels, which can also lower blood pressure. Can you freaking imagine? I would think it makes it go up. Oh wait! Here it is: Excessive caffeine may increase blood pressure, anxiety and insomnia. I knew that.
3
.They act as antioxidants and may help to reduce blockages in the arteries. I knew that and I hope that my arteries are clean as a whistle.
4. Thinning the blood by reducing platelet stickiness.
5.Unfiltered coffee can increase your blood cholesterol levels, so use a filter when you brew.
6. Reduces the risk of gallstones

Some Risks that should be duly noted:

1. More than 200 milligrams of caffeine per day can increase the risk of miscarriage.
2. Caffeine increases the loss of calcium in the urine. Keep your intake under 300mil a day or take a good calcium supplement to counteract that caffeine effect.
3. Excessive caffeine may increase blood pressure, anxiety and insomnia

Excellent Coffee Beans from Brown and Jenkins Trading Co.

Brown and Jenkins Trading CoBrown and Jenkins coffee beans are roasted fresh daily. I’ve had the pleasure to try a couple of their coffees and must say it was truly a delightful experience. As soon as the shipment arrived and I begun to open the box, I could smell the fresh roast smell and darned if I wouldn’t swear the bags were still warm. Maybe not, but the aroma was that good.

Brown & Jenkins roasts their green coffee fresh daily to meet the exact needs of their orders. They use a gas-fired rotary drum type roaster and roast in small batches of anywhere from 10 to 40 pounds at a time. They boast a caring and artful approach to their roasting. I have agree, they must. It is delicious.

Brown and Jenkins sent me a Vermont roasted Kenya AA and Sumatra Mandheling.

First off: Sumatra Mandheling:

A deep aroma out of the bag that is inviting and complex. I caught a hint of smokiness and loved it. In the cup I found it to be slightly syrupy and thick bodied with a muted-acidity. I detected a hint of chocolate with a taste of caramel. A very lovely cup. Elegant and suitable for a black tie social gathering that is sure to please even the most discriminating palate.

Kenya AA:

Kenyan origin coffees are my favorite by far. I love the intense and consistent flavor. It never fails to please me. This one is no different. The exuberant aroma is followed by the succulent hints of leather and black currant. It is dry in the mouth and finishes with a delicate aftertaste. I used a french press to ensure I brought out the full depth of this wonderful bean.

Brown and Jenkins Trading Co. is more than just coffee. You must stop by and visit them and discover all the wonderful things they have to offer the public both on-line and at their brick and mortar establishment. You will find other foods and gifts and a coffee club as well. Check them out and definitely try out their coffees. I am certain you will not be disappointed.

Thank you to Brown and Jenkins for the coffee products they sent for review. I have enjoyed them immensely!
