Did Somebody Put Battery Acid in Your Cup?

Tired of battery acid in your cup? Hate that burning fuzzy feeling you get in your throat after a cup of coffee? Can’t put your coffee down no matter how bad it hurts? Then I have a solution for you!

Puroast Low Acid Coffee

Puroast Low Acid Coffee I’ve never had a problem with acid up until a year or so ago and even at that it is minimal. I have wished from time to time that I had a low-acid coffee for those times that I am bothered by it but never believed it possible that a coffee could taste good if they took something out. I was wrong!

Puroast was Johnny-on-the-spot getting my product to me that they so graciously let me try out and oddly enough I was having a bit of an issue with some Mexican food that day when I made my first pot. First, let me tell you that the aroma was just wonderful. I was shocked. Then, I poured that cup and sipped it, and I was amazed at how refreshing it tasted. Rich, robust, and down right full of flavor. And guess what? No acidity.

The coffee was clean and delightful. I ended up drinking the entire pot in about 2 hours. I just loved it.

You can get Puroast in all sorts of ways: decaf, regular, medium roast and house blends, flavored coffees in both caffeinated and decaf, espresso, and organic coffee. Whole bean or ground.

Comes in flavors too! ( I have not had the pleasure to try these but I’ll bet they are good too )

Low Acid Chocolate Almond

Low Acid Hazelnut

Low Acid Irish Crème

Low Acid Mocha Java

Low Acid Vanilla Coffee

You may also elect to get low acide half-caffs too!

They are very friendly people with good customer relations. A fine coffee that offers those a solution who need one. You really can’t go wrong and Puroast coffee was found to be #1 in taste with The Wall Street Journal and Newsweek taste trials.

Try them out and I know you’ll be as happy about their coffees as I am.

Cabaret Brewed Chocolate Review

Cabaret Brewed Chocolate whole bean beverage

Cabaret Brewed Chocolate imageNot a coffee but don’t forget that chocolate is caffeinated. I was pleasantly surprised when I received the Cabaret Brewed Chocolate and tasted it right from the jar. Keeping with an ancient Aztec tradition, it is sort-of a smokey, rich, chocolate taste that is really different from any other chocolate that I’ve tasted.

As you can see from the image below, you just add 1 teaspoon to 1/2 cup hot water. The chocolate is concentrated so it does not take very much. Stir and enjoy. Did I say enjoy? Read on…

This beverage stimulated me without the jitters and what is really sweet about it all, when I had a cup in the evening, I did not get stimulated but rather relaxed. I call that an all around beverage!

There is just a bit of sugar in the concentrate but one should not worry too much about that. It is sweet enough without any additional sweetner.

Cabaret Brewed Chocolate in the cupCabaret Brewed Chocolate has only a small amount of caffeine but very high in theobromine which is a cousin to caffeine providing a different effect. They say Theobromine is a gentler. longer lasting stimulant. One teaspoon contains nearly an ounce of cocoa beans. wow!

Visit their website to purchase Cabaret Brewed Chocolate and to learn more about the history and the product. Be sure to watch the video. Very interesting history told. It is $14.95 a jar and each jar contains 24 servings. That is 20 cocoa beans per serving. Love it!

Here We Go Again!

Last Update: That should be it. Except for a tweak here and there. Hope it works for you. One last thing: Stop by and visit the newest member to my blog family. It’s not much yet but it will be. Smoothie Blend … I’m sure I’ll get some caffeinated smoothies going on there before long.

Update: Didn’t want to make a new post with this. I am currently working on this theme. Some things are missing and design may change while you are on here. I’m working on it as fast as I can. Thank you!

Upgraded WP to 2.6 and what happens? My current theme, my pretty SEO opt. theme is not compatible. It just freaking went blank. Here’s the old one, please bear with me while I find another one I like and work on it… again.

5 Quotes on Coffee (v1)

coffee mug and newspaper imageI’m going to start adding coffee quotes again. I did it a long time ago and found they were getting difficult to locate. I have since stumbled onto more and instead of just listing them all in one instance, I’m going to space them out in weekly posts. So, here are the first five that I want to share with you. Comments are always welcomed.

Coffee Quotes (because I love coffee so much)

1. I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee.
~ Carly Simon
2. Black as the devil, hot as hell, pure as an angel, sweet as love.
~ Charles Maurice de Talleyrand
3. I never laugh until I’ve had my coffee.
~ Clark Gable (personal favorite of mine because I tend to feel the same way)
4. Sniff…Whazat?! Zat’s coffee!
~ Garfield
5. Coffee falls into the stomach … ideas begin to move, things remembered arrive at full gallop … the shafts of wit start up like sharp-shooters, similies arise, the paper is covered with ink …
~ Honore de Balzac (1799-1859)

Coffee Quote Bonus:

We would take something old and tired and common — coffee — and weave a sense of romance and community around it. We would rediscover the mystique and charm that had swirled around coffee throughout the centuries.
~ Howard Schutz, CEO of Starbucks, 1997

13 Good Uses for Coffee Beans and Coffee Grounds

I am always searching for good ideas for using coffee or the beans other than drinking. Here are three that I found today. Bean bag filler? I think not. Imagine what that could cost a person.

Coffee Beans

1. Freshen your breath
What to do when you’re all out of breath mints? Just suck on a coffee bean for a while and your mouth will smell clean and fresh again.

2. Remove foul odor from hands
If your hands smell of garlic, fish or other strong foods you’ve been handling, a few coffee beans may be all you need to get rid of the odor. Put the beans in your hands and rub them together. The oil released from the coffee beans will absorb the foul smell. When the odor is gone, wash your hands in warm, soapy water.

3. Fill a beanbag
They don’t call them beanbags for nothing. Coffee beans are ideal as beanbag filler, but with the price of coffee nowadays it’s a good idea to wait for a sale and then buy the cheapest beans available.

Coffee Grounds

1. Coffee can be used as an odor neutraliser if there is a powercut & the food in the freezer defrosts & goes off, simply fill a bowl or two with new or used coffee & leave in the freezer over night.

2. When it comes to cleaning/sweeping out open fires sprinkle some used coffee grounds over the hearth or wherever you have to clean & it will sweep up easier & stop the coal dust from rising up in your room so better for environment.

3. Gardeners if you grow carrots add some coffee to your seeds before sowing, not only does this make the seeds easier to sow, the smell also repels root maggots & other pests allowing for thicker juicy carrots.

4. Many people take exception to neighbors cats using their garden or yard as a toilet, a mixture of used coffee grounds and & orange peel put round plants and in beds you want left alone will provide a pungent smell that cats do not like and so will find someone else’s garden to use.

5. To get rid of ants put used coffee grounds onto the ant hills, this will have to be done for each hill as the pesky things will move to another home.

6. Fishermen, when transporting maggots & worms put them in a container with moist coffee grounds & they will be easier to pick up when you need them & they also like coffee as much as we do so it will make them live longer too.

7. Kitchen drains tend to get smelly, simply get a cup of coffee grounds and tip down the plughole making sure you tip a kettle of boiling water down slowly & leave to work on the odours

8. For a quick fix on fabrics soak garment in strong black unsugared coffee, this is an inexpensive way to dye clothes brown in an emergency but remember it will not be colour fast.

9. Coffee grounds can be used to clean any stain resistant surface, it has a mild & gentle abrasive element & smells fresh too, particularly good for smelly ashtrays and greasy surfaces.

10. To help plants to flourish add coffee to your soil, this is best done in small amounts of soil so you can add 1 cup of lime to balance acidity if need be, another way is to empty it straight onto your compost pile with other kitchen waste.

Stumble it!

New Study Indicates Aroma of Coffee May Reduce Stress

Here we go again! Yet another discovery on coffee and our health. It would seem that coffee is becoming a more valuable (asset) everyday. Now it has been found to have a nice effect on our nose organ. ermm.. our sense of smell. It appears to have a calming effect and helps to reduce stress. I know for one, smelling fresh coffee does make me feel good and calms me.

Here is an excerpt:

According to researchers at Seoul National University in South Korea, laboratory rats exposed to the aroma of roasted coffee beans experienced higher levels of activity in a number of genes, including some that produce proteins with healthful antioxidant activity.

Antioxidants are compounds that defend our bodies against cell damage caused by free-radicals. The antioxidants in coffee’s aroma are different from those contained in liquid coffee and, in effect, helped ease the stress of the rats that smelled the coffee.

Now, if I was a rat…..
