Excellent Coffee Beans from Brown and Jenkins Trading Co.

Brown and Jenkins Trading CoBrown and Jenkins coffee beans are roasted fresh daily. I’ve had the pleasure to try a couple of their coffees and must say it was truly a delightful experience. As soon as the shipment arrived and I begun to open the box, I could smell the fresh roast smell and darned if I wouldn’t swear the bags were still warm. Maybe not, but the aroma was that good.

Brown & Jenkins roasts their green coffee fresh daily to meet the exact needs of their orders. They use a gas-fired rotary drum type roaster and roast in small batches of anywhere from 10 to 40 pounds at a time. They boast a caring and artful approach to their roasting. I have agree, they must. It is delicious.

Brown and Jenkins sent me a Vermont roasted Kenya AA and Sumatra Mandheling.

First off: Sumatra Mandheling:

A deep aroma out of the bag that is inviting and complex. I caught a hint of smokiness and loved it. In the cup I found it to be slightly syrupy and thick bodied with a muted-acidity. I detected a hint of chocolate with a taste of caramel. A very lovely cup. Elegant and suitable for a black tie social gathering that is sure to please even the most discriminating palate.

Kenya AA:

Kenyan origin coffees are my favorite by far. I love the intense and consistent flavor. It never fails to please me. This one is no different. The exuberant aroma is followed by the succulent hints of leather and black currant. It is dry in the mouth and finishes with a delicate aftertaste. I used a french press to ensure I brought out the full depth of this wonderful bean.

Brown and Jenkins Trading Co. is more than just coffee. You must stop by and visit them and discover all the wonderful things they have to offer the public both on-line and at their brick and mortar establishment. You will find other foods and gifts and a coffee club as well. Check them out and definitely try out their coffees. I am certain you will not be disappointed.

Super, Extra, EXTRA Caffeinated Coffee

Yum.. Good Coffee Out of these 3 super-caffeinated coffees, I still LOVE Shock Coffee the most! But for your reading pleasure, I will certainly mention the other two so that you too can rev-up your heart rate and suffer heart palpitations. (hmm… did I spell that correctly?)

If you are looking for a quick jolt then these are the one’s for you. I’ve tried all three and they all play their role well. Shock Coffee does seem to have the richest and freshest roasted flavor though and obviously that makes it more enjoyable but if you’re just after the caffeine, all will work just fine.

Arabica vs Robusta, where’s the competition? Bad bean vs Good bean

I wanted to ‘lightly’ touch on a subject about coffee beans and normally I would not bother except I was reading on another blog some place and they commented that after much research they have concluded Robusta to be superior to Arabica. What could be going through this person’s mind? Where did this person do his/her research? Maxwell House? Ok, that was a cheap shot but they do use Robusta, thus the cheaper prices. Right?

For those who do not know, Robusta is of lower quality. I know it sounds as if it should be better but it just is not. There is more caffeine in Robusta but when comparing oil, sugars, etc, Arabica wins out every time. I have heard tell that anybody who has ever had good Vietnamese Robusta will never go back. I doubt that really.

I guess that I am partial because there are many people who enjoy Robusta over Arabica, but any expert will tell you that Robusta tends to have a burnt rubber taste and over-all cheapness about it. Oh well, my rant is over. I just had to get that off my cup. I’ll spell check later on. It’s bed time. Good night.

You can overdose on caffeine (espresso shots can kill) *winks*

Alright, as bad as I hate to write this, I found it interesting and wanted to post it. I really believe that our young people should watch their caffeine intake if not do away with it all together. And here is why:

Below is a link to the story about a coffee shop owner’s teen who overdosed on double espresso shots. Read it and think it over. I suppose it could kill. Of course, I would never sit and drink that many double espresso shots either.

Bada Beans It has taken me a very long time to write this review. It wasn’t for lack of time, but lack of a back-bone. I hate writing negative reviews. At least it is not going to be as negative as it would have been in the beginning. One must test and test again when they have something unpleasant to write about. It is a bad thing to write a review that reflects a product as less than favorable when everything possible has not been done to try and like it.

Coffee Review on: Copper Door Coffee Roasters

The coffee just keeps getting better. Just when you think you’ve had the best ever, another company comes along with something just as awesome or even better than that.

In a nutshell, I love Copper Door Coffee Roasters and their wonderful, fresh roasted coffee. But we can not do things in a nutshell, can we? I must write more than that.

copper door costa rica coffee bag imageFirst, I have to comment on their bags. It is like a plain brown sack you’d send a lunch in. I love it! Simple as that is, it makes for the most elegant of presentation to me, not to mention environmentally friendly. Kudos. Don’t ever change that.

Keeping with Artisan tradition, beans are roasted a batch at a time (8 pounds max) and not mass produced like some other companies do. Tidbit: They roast using 100% wind purchased from the wind farm near Ft. Collins, CO. Isn’t that awesome? Read more on their website.
