Buy your coffee Whole Bean
For all of you who love great coffee house coffee. I’m going to let you in on a secret. There are two major components to a great cup of coffee.
Of course, it always helps to buy quality coffee beans, fresh ground bad beans makes really fresh bad coffee. But, if you have good beans and they are pre-ground they can turn bad, or at least not as good, fast.
The reason is oil. A great deal of the flavor in that coffee bean comes from the oils, and oils have a tendency to go rancid, light and oxygen speeds the process. So, if you grind your coffee (or buy it from a can all ground up) then those oils get a lot more exposure to oxygen and the time bomb starts a tickin’.
So, if you don’t have one buy a grinder. I know it takes an extra 30 seconds to brew that pot of coffee, but I think you are worth it.
Most people will tell you that a Burr style grinder is the best, but even a blade grinder is a ton better than the pre-ground.
I’ll spend more time talking about grinders some other time but you can go to Amazon or any department store to find a decent grinder.
Here’s some Grinders I found on Amazon: Coffee Grinder List
Java Coffee Canister — pretty!
Isn’t this pretty? I found this on Amazon while looking for a jar. I think it is just lovely and would maker a perfect place for our coffee. It holds 10 ounces. Hmm… I would like for it to be larger but oh-well, guess it would work well enough.
Joe’s Coffee Collars :: Protect Your Hands from Hot Coffee Burns
Joe’s Coffee Collars is one of the best ideas I’ve seen in a while. Though my photo leaves something to be desired, the little insulated cup hugger does not.
They come in assorted colors and designs (though I am not sure you can get this particular one now) and fit a cup ranging from small to large. Your standard tall, Grande, and Venti Starbuck’s models. Such names for cup sizes!
Anyway, these nifty, re-usable, insulated cup sleeves are made in Alaska and are state of the art insulate that keeps a beverage warmer, longer than neoprene. I can honestly testify to that. I love them!
They are trendy, attractive, and make a great conversation item. I would agree that these are enviromental safe since they are re-usable time after time. They do hold their shape.
Stop by Joe’s and give them a peak. They are reasonable at $5.99 each with free shipping in the U.S. You can also buy wholesale. I’ll bet you love them too!
Wal*Mart introduces Real Product Opinions/Reviews by Real Shoppers
I read that Wal*Mart has now enabled the site to accept real-time reviews/opinions on all their online products. I guess if they sell it, you can review it. I am going to leave a link to their coffeemaker page and you can go from there. Leave an opinion, let us all know what you thought of a coffee gadget you purchased through Wal*Mart. We want to know!
Seems as though many merchant sites are doing this. eBay included. I think it is just good business sense.

Coffee Gadget Review on: Sip Klip the ‘coffee lid sip hole plug’
New product alert!
There are those places where you get a handy dandy lid hole cover such as a stopper that will bend back when you open it ( “McDonalds Coffee” ) or a floppy tab that goes in and out of the lid ( “7-11″ ) and makes a large mess if you are not extremely careful but then there is something new out there that makes the others pale in comparison. It’s called Sip Klip!
Michele Vogt, founder, inventor and principal partner of Sip Klip and former coffeehouse owner knew we all needed something to help us keep our coffee in our cups! I know I did. I wish I had a dollar for each spot I have had to wash out of my tops and jeans from those accidents I am so famous for having.
Is that lid red? WOW! That must be some HOT coffee!
This is pretty awesome. I’ll bet McDonalds wishes they had these back when that old woman sued them for hot coffee.
Not only do these lids change color to bright red when the beverage is hot there is also a sealing indicator that shows whether or not the lid is securely attached properly to the cup. It will be red while securing it and until the entire rim is brown, the lid is not secure. I know when coffee or whatever is hot but I would like to see coffee shops use these if for no other reason to let me know they put that lid on tight!
